Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use Hasalati?

No. Hasalati works completely offline with no account and no network connection. Everything you log is saved on your iPhone the moment you enter it. An account exists only if you want a backup, or want the same data on more than one device.

Where is my data stored?

On your iPhone, in the app's private storage. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you export a file yourself or turn on sync. If you delete the app, the local copy goes with it — export a backup first if you want to keep it.

What does turning on sync actually do?

After you sign in, Hasalati copies your transactions and settings into your own private rows in our database, protected so that only your account can read them. Changes push a couple of seconds after you edit something, and pull when you sign in or tap Sync now. If the same entry was changed on two devices, the more recent edit wins. Deletions sync too.

Is my financial data private?

Yes. Hasalati contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. Your data is never sold or shared. With sync off, nothing ever leaves your phone. See the Privacy Policy for every detail.

Does Hasalati connect to my bank?

No. Every entry is one you type in yourself. Hasalati never asks for bank credentials and has no access to any account, card, or statement.

How do recurring transactions work?

Mark an entry as Monthly and Hasalati keeps creating the next occurrence for you, up to one month ahead, so it always appears under Upcoming. Scheduled entries are not counted in your totals until their date arrives. To end a series, open its most recent occurrence and turn Monthly off.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → Data → Export as JSON creates a file you can save or send through the iOS share sheet. Import from file reads it back and asks how to apply it: Merge keeps what you already have and adds anything new, Replace wipes everything and restores the file exactly.

What is the daily reminder?

Optional local nudges to log the day's spending. Choose how many reminders you want each day, then adjust each time in Settings. iOS schedules them on your device — no server is involved and Hasalati never sends push notifications. If they don't arrive, check that notifications are allowed for Hasalati in iOS Settings.

Can I change the currency?

Yes, in Settings → Budget → Currency. Enter SAR to show the official Saudi Riyal symbol; any other code such as USD, EUR, or AED appears as plain text beside the amount. This is a display label only — Hasalati does not convert existing amounts, so changing it relabels your numbers rather than re-pricing them.

Can I create my own categories?

Yes. Settings → Categories lets you add a category with your own name, icon and colour, edit or reorder any built-in one, and remove the ones you do not use. Removing only hides a category from the pickers — transactions already filed under it keep their name, and you can restore it at any time.

How do monthly budgets work?

In the Budget tab, set a limit per category and the monthly total is their sum, or type a total yourself if you would rather track a single number. A plan carries into the months ahead automatically, and editing a month applies to that month onward — it never changes a month that has already finished.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account. That permanently removes your account and every transaction and setting stored in the cloud, and it cannot be undone. The copy on your iPhone stays unless you ask for it to be erased too. You can carry on using Hasalati with no account at all.
